Report on Visit to Craft Museum, Delhi

The students of Home Science visited the National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum (Craft Museum), Delhi on 13th August as part of their experiential learning program. The museum showcased India’s diverse craft traditions such as textiles, pottery, woodwork, metal craft, and tribal art.

Students keenly observed traditional weaving, embroidery, block printing, and dyeing techniques which directly relate to their subject of textiles and clothing. They also explored exhibits displaying rural household objects, puppets, and folk paintings representing the cultural heritage of different states.

A special highlight was the live demonstrations by artisans, where students interacted with craftspersons and learned about the creative process and the importance of preserving these traditional skills.

The visit provided valuable practical insights, enriched their academic knowledge, and fostered appreciation for India’s cultural heritage and sustainable craft practices. Overall, it was an inspiring and educational experience for the students.
