National Education Day Celebration – Foundational Stage

14 / Nov

A storytelling session titled “How I Learn Every Day” was conducted for the children of the Foundational Stage. The session began with a warm introduction where teachers shared stories that highlighted themes of learning, kindness, and curiosity.

Stories read and discussed during the session included:
“Jumbo the Jet” – a story about teamwork and helping others.
“A Baby Bug” – emphasizing care for small creatures and observing nature.
“Dog in a Fog” – focusing on problem-solving, courage, and curiosity.
Children listened attentively to the stories, identifying the values portrayed by the characters. Teachers encouraged discussions on how the stories connected to real-life situations—helping friends, taking care of animals, and being brave learners.

Following the storytelling, children participated in related follow-up activities:

  1. Listen and Recall: Children recalled key words, names of characters, and main ideas from the stories.
  2. Reading and Writing: They practiced reading simple words or identifying familiar sounds from the story, expressing their understanding visually.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Children developed listening and comprehension skills through attentive participation.
  2. They enhanced their vocabulary by recalling story words and phrases.
  3. The activity promoted values of kindness, respect, and curiosity.
  4. Children expressed their understanding through art and language, integrating creativity with literacy learning.
  5. Confidence and communication improved as children shared their artwork and retold parts of the story in their own words.
  6. The storytelling session provided a joyful and interactive platform for language and value-based learning.

Children were enthusiastic and deeply engaged throughout the activity. They related to the stories and shared their own experiences of helping and learning. The integration of listening, speaking, reading, and drawing made the session meaningful and developmentally appropriate. Such sessions not only nurture early literacy but also instill empathy, respect, and a lifelong love for stories and learning.
